Saturday’s high attendance at the Marine game certainly had a positive effect on our fundraising efforts with more than £1,000 being generated for our Development Fund.
The barrel collection was up on previous weeks and over the £400 barrier, with the final count coming to £403. Thanks are due to a regular contributor who handed in a bag with £25 loose change, £35 from exchanging some US dollars with Raymondo at a very generous exchange rate, £62 in small change from the "fill a brick" campaign that’s been running for a few years and then many bags of change, large and small, notes and coins of all denominations which swelled the final total. We also had a bewildering array of foreign notes and coins to be sorted, but already we have exchanged some for £15 for the next barrel collection on Tuesday.
The Pound for the Ground sellers sold a magnificent total of 845 tickets and after deducting £200 for the winner, £645 goes into the DF. The winning ticket was number 5423 and was not claimed on the day, so check your pockets, purses and wallets because you might have £200 sitting there.
This means that the DF gained a grand total of £1,048 from the Marine game. A massive “well done??? to everyone who contributed in any way.
Therefore, our running total for the Development Fund at home games so far this season now stands at £9,696. Now, let’s get over the £10k mark at the Ashton United game!
