FC United relishing turning out at Tameside as we host Barwell

FC United relishing turning out at Tameside as we host BarwellFC United manager Karl Margisnon says he and the players are looking forward to kicking off in our new temporary home at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium against Barwell on Saturday.

Three of our next four home games - and one away game - are now scheduled to take place in Ashton and Margy is looking forward to it. He said: "Everyone is really positive about it. Stalybridge Celtic have been fantastic to us but it’s good that we’ve been able to find this solution.

"Curzon have one of the best playing surfaces in non-league football, so the players are all really looking forward to playing there. We have some very happy memories of playing at the ground and I know the transport links are probably slightly better for supporters, so it’s a good move."

Other than long term injuries, the Reds are fully fit and raring to go tomorrow. Chris Lynch must serve a one game suspension for being sent off during our dramatic, last gasp 3-2 win over Barwell in the FA Trophy but Jerome Wright is set to return after his ban.

Margy is hoping that United can beat Barwell again but this time more comfortably. He said: "If we can get an early goal like we did on Saturday against Harrogate then we will be able to kick on.

"It was probably the performance of the season but it could have happened in a number of previous games. We have been dominate early on in many matches but we haven’t got a goal and then it can become a psychological issue.

"On Saturday, we got the goal and we able to carry on playing football and take control of the game. I’ll be expecting more of the same tomorrow."

FC United are looking to get back up the Evo-Stik Premier Division after falling to 11th due to our FA Trophy run and the postponement against Workington. However, the Reds have games in hand on eight of the teams above us meaning a couple of victories could see us right back in the mix.

FC United of Manchester versus Barwell is this Saturday at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium. It’s a traditional three o’clock kick-off and it’s pay on the gate with prices voted for by our members - £8 for adults, £5 concessions and £2 for adults.

Get yourself to that football ground.
