AGM deadline for resolutions & board nominations this WEDNESDAY

The 2014 AGM will take place on Wednesday, November 26, at The Central Methodist Hall, Oldham Street, Manchester, M1 1JQ at 7pm.

The board would like to confirm that the following existing members will be standing again at the forthcoming elections:

Mike Sherrard
Des Lynch
Alison Watt
Adam Brown

Current board member Pete Burke has confirmed that due to time commitments he will not be re-standing for election to the Board.

The deadline to stand for the Board or submit a resolution is this Wednesday 22nd October at noon. If you want to change the future direction of the club, please read the information below carefully.

How to stand for the Board

Any member wishing to stand as a candidate for the board should submit a written nomination to the club secretary. The nomination needs to be endorsed by not fewer than five other members.

It must clearly state that the member wishes to stand for election to the club board at the forthcoming AGM and declare eligibility to be a member of the board.

It must clearly state the name and membership number of the prospective candidate and be received no later than noon on Wednesday, October 22.

All candidates may also submit a statement in support of their candidacy of no more than 400 words and a passport style photograph.

How to submit a resolution

If you wish to submit a resolution for consideration at the AGM, Rule 29 of the Club’s Constitution provides that notice of that resolution must be given in writing to the Club no later than noon 35 days before the date of the meeting, therefore by no later than noon on Wednesday, October 22.

Rule 29 also provides that the member giving notice of the proposed resolution must also give the Club his or her justification for that proposed resolution, as well as its form and content, and that the notice of the resolution must be signed by the proposer as well as five other members.

Any members intending to submit proposed resolutions are strongly urged to read Rule 29 of the Club’s Constitution.
