Scope of Role

Safety stewards are vital to providing a safe and enjoyable match day experience for everyone who visits Broadhurst Park.

As a Safety Steward you will not only care for both sets of fans, but will help to ensure the safety of fellow employees, players and match officials.

Being a safety steward is a key role and FC United only wants to employ people who are focused on our supporters and visitors having an enjoyable and safe experience at our new ground. We want people who care about the team they work with and for the people in their care.

You will be provided with full training. You will receive, as part of your role, emergency aid training and basic fire awareness training, amongst other job related training. Training will be provided on site. Along with the relevant certificates in the training mentioned above, you will be enrolled and trained to achieve an NVQ level 2 in Spectator Safety. This is an "on the job" qualification and therefore requires no prior knowledge of the role.

This is a rare opportunity for you to be part of the development of a brand new football ground and be part of a club that seeks to change the way that football is owned and run, putting supporters at the heart of everything.

Payment will be calculated on an hourly basis, rate to be determined.

Job Description

- Attend the Ground at given dates and times as directed by the Safety Officer/Deputy Safety Officer or Chief Steward.
- Attend any pre-event briefing and ensure all information is understood.
- Undertake pre-event and post-event stand checks.
- To be responsible for the safety and comfort of spectators within a designated area at all times.
- Constantly monitor the spectators in your area checking for signs of distress or overcrowding and take action in accordance with standing instructions
- To control and direct spectators entering and leaving the ground and to assist in this movement.
- Ensure that gangways and exit/evacuation routes in your area are kept clear.
- Enforce and immediately report any breach of the Ground Regulations to a Supervisor.
- Be able to provide basic First Aid if required and know the location of the First Aid Rooms located within the ground.
- Be fully conversant with any methods or messages used to alert staff that an emergency has arisen.
- Assist as required in the evacuation of spectators etc. from the ground.
- Comply with the relevant instructions and guidance contained in the Stewards Operational Handbook.
- Attend all required training.
- To understand general responsibilities towards the health and safety and welfare of all spectators, other stewards and ground staff.

Person Specification

- Be fit, active and have the character and temperament to carry out the duties of a steward.
- Possess good communication skills and be of sound character.
- Be able to attend most first-team home fixtures and other major events held at the ground.
- Be polite, courteous and helpful to all supporters. Whilst on duty you will adhere to the club dress code.
