Margy rues broken foot ahead of trip to Stamford

FC United have suffered an injury setback ahead of our Easter double-header against Stamford and Ashton United with manager Karl Marginson breaking his foot at training on Thursday night.

Margy was rolling back the years by showcasing the skills that earned him a career in the Football League when he caught his studs in the turf and snapped his fifth metatarsal.

The former Rotherham winger now faces four to six weeks in plaster but, always the optimist, Margy shrugged it off. He said: "The positive is it was me, not one of the players."

But, on a sadder note, he added: "Unfortunately, I won’t be able to wear my jeans any more."

The good news is, unlike Margy, all of the players came through the week unscathed. Although, rumour has it a few were in stitches when the boss took his tumble.

United go into the game knowing that we need three points to keep the pressure up on leaders Chorley, who are away at Whitby Town. A convincing win may also be required to keep us ahead of Fylde, who we are currently just edging on goals scored.

Stamford versus FC United is this Easter Saturday at the traditional, supporter friendly kick-off time of three o’clock. Get yourself to that football ground and help push Margy and the players over the final straight.
