Charlie Raglan to move to Chesterfield at the end of the season

Charlie Raglan to move to Chesterfield at the end of the seasonFC United centre-back Charlie Raglan has signed for Chesterfield and will be moving to the League Two club at the end of the season.

Raglan is the second FC United player to have made the move to the Spirites, following Ollie Banks’s departure earlier this season and comes hot on the heels of Tom Davies’ announced move to another League Two club, Fleetwood.

Commenting on Raglan’s impending departure, FC United manager Karl Marginson said: “This is a great move for Charlie and he leaves with all our best wishes. Obviously, it’s a bit of a disappointment to lose someone of his calibre but it once again highlights the strength of our squad and shows the platform and showcase that FC United can offer to young players.???

Chesterfield manager Paul Cook added: "Charlie has good potential and we view him as very much one for the future. Having previously signed Ollie Banks from FC United of Manchester, it shows the good work that is being done there to develop young players.???

Three FC United first team players moving to football league clubs in the same season certainly highlights the strength in depth at the club, as well as the attraction of a set-up that is making great strides forward both on and off the pitch.

General manager Andy Walsh said: “We are clearly doing something right when we are attracting the attention of clubs like Chesterfield and Fleetwood, both of whom are currently vying for promotion to League One.

"Karl has done a brilliant job here in building stronger and stronger squads every season and you can see from the results on the pitch that the spirit we have in the dressing room is stronger than it has ever been.

“These moves are also a tribute to the standard of football in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier league, which is proving to be a fertile ground for developing young players who then take the step up to a higher level of the game.

"While we are disappointed to lose good players at any time at FC, we can be confident that we have the building blocks in place at our club to build the squad further and to develop and attract talented players who want to play for us.???
