The Pound for the Ground draw winning ticket at the Stocksbridge game was 710 and the £200 was claimed just after half time by one of our own hard-working volunteers. A total of 705 tickets were sold so £505 was raised for the Development Fund.
The barrels were off to a flyer as we changed various foreign banknotes for £73 at the local post office and when added to the loose change the total was £164.There was also a 5 euro note which went into stock.
As David Coleman used to say "It’s quite remarkable" that the total raised in the barrels since we started is now approaching the £50,000 mark and weather permitting we may reach that figure by Christmas this year.
It was Mike Sherrard who put the barrel idea forward some six years ago and no one could have predicted the level of support and that we would be now approaching £50K. It would appear that every single one of us have made contributions, big and small, in order to change our dream of a permanent home, into a reality.
So, if you have any loose change or foreign or out of date money tucked away in the bottom of a drawer, then bring it to the next game and tip it in a barrel please.. you know it makes sense.
