This Saturday's CYCM preview

There are many things Manchester can be proud of - things that cause other cities to cast an envious glance at and subsequently turn a nasty looking, deep shade of green. The latest is to be revealed as western Europe’s most linguistically diverse city, with over 200 languages spoken, and this Saturday we celebrate this richer than rich diversity with a CYCM-cavalcade of multi-culturism.

First up we have long-time friend of CYCM Bernard Kelly giving us a shufty at some of his latest art, which takes in footballers and issues of race. He may even throw a couple of songs in if you ask nicely and are on your best behaviour.

Following this, Unite Against Fascism will be along to talk about the need to be vigilant against the ever-present threat of fascism, and to discuss the ‘Griffin Must Go Campaign’.

We’ll also see how smart you think you are by once again playing ‘Taking You Round the Corner’. Will it be a case of Chorley cakes or Chorley fakes? If you’ve got the audacity to answer, put your money where your mouth is. Or preferably into our coffers to get us a step closer to our own ground.

As if all this wasn’t enough, there’s also the usual veggie hotdogs courtesy of Mr. Noodle, wimberry charlottes, tater ‘ash and cheese and onion pies courtesy of Westwells, and cakes courtesy of Colwyn Bay’s number one family bakery. Oh and drinks, both alcoholic and non. But you already knew that.

Doors open from 12, and the usual rules of members plus one guest apply. Come and celebrate love and unity in a way only Manchester can. Just try to ignore the fact we’ll be doing it in Bury.
