Three barrels in one - fundraising update

Three barrels in one - fundraising updateHalf-term with the grandchildren is the reason for our rather tardy update on the last three games; apologies from all concerned.

STOCKSBRIDGE PS
The winning ticket number was 334 and was claimed on the pitch at half time by FC regular Martin Eardley from Swinton. Martin and his wife very kindly donated £50 back to the club and this was put in the barrels. The team sold 705 tickets, therefore £505 was banked in the DF. Many thanks Martin.

When we totted up the loose change in the barrels and added the £50 donation, there was a very healthy £275 total.

WITTON ALBION
The winning ticket number was 909 and was claimed on the day by an FC regular from Stockport. He said: "This has come just at the right time as it is my son’s 21st party very soon and the money will help towards that". A very happy birthday to that young man from us all. 735 tickets were sold, so thats another £535 straight into the DF.

There was a larger than usual collection of £391 in the barrels, and over 50% was in notes. Probably many supporters used their free vouchers from when the game was called off and then wanted to make a donation to the DF. Tremendous gesture from all who tipped up.

KENDAL TOWN
The winning ticket was number 643 and for the third match running the £200 was claimed at half time on the pitch. Ken Paul, who travels up on a regular basis from Brighton, yes Brighton, was the lucky winner. Makes my regular 40 mile round trip a mere doddle. Ken told our drawmaster: "I always said that if I were to win the PFTG draw then I would donate it back," and thats what he did. He added: "I took up the offer of buy two and get one free from Dave the seller and actually won with my free ticket!!" Ken is a season ticket holder and forgot his his ticket book and so actually paid again to get in the ground. We offered him his entry money back and asked him to think again about donating the cash back, but he was adamant. How many times do we see such generous gestures like this at our football club? Many thanks Ken.

The barrels were off to a flyer thanks to the £200 donation and we also added in £72 from our local coin dealer that we had changed for all the teemingness of obsolete notes and coins that we had accumulated this season. Add in the loose change and we amassed £345 in the barrels . . . not bad for a quiet Tuesday.

We’ve now got 120 euros in stock, all in loose change, and we will be changing them at the next home game with Tim for English pounds.

As there are now only a few home games left, please root out all your loose change and foreign stuff before we reach the end of the season. Thanks again to all who contributed.
