FC United women's team recognised in FA's Respect Awards

In what is turning out to be a very successful debut season, both on and off the pitch, FC United’s women’s team has been nominated for a prestigious FA Respect and Fair Play Award in the Women’s Football Pyramid - Club category.

Reflecting their hard work, effort and initiative, in an outstanding first season, the team received over 20 nominations, which was enough to get us judged in the national stage of the awards. Unfortunately we did not make it through to the final shortlisting stage but garnering this level of nominations is a significant achievement in itself and will help to raise the profile of women’s football and FC United’s role within it, both locally and nationally.

Kate Ramsey, secretary of the FC United women’s team, said: "We’re delighted to have received so many nominations and to have reached the judging stage of a prestigious national FA award. It’s great to be recognised for what we’re doing as the FC United women’s team and I know that the entire squad and everyone connected with the team is delighted. We’ll use the recognition to inspire us for the remainder of the season and hopefully we can end our campaign on a winning note by lifting the League Cup in May."
