FC United on stage at The Lowry this week

‘RED’, the bite-sized play about FC’s famous FA Cup night in Rochdale in November 2010 is set to return this month for three nights at the Lowry from Monday 14 January to Wednesday 16 January.

Actor/Writer and FCUM Radio commentator James Quinn has penned the play, ’RED’ which features a fictitious couple, Graham and Claire, on that famous bonfire night. Graham is a die-hard FC fan while Claire, whose first footballing allegiance remains with Manchester United, is preparing her bid for a VIP catering contract at Old Trafford. As the match unfolds, the pair joust about the politics and morals of FC and modern day Premier League football, with contributions from ’FC’ and ’Manchester United’, the ’voices’ of the two clubs.

’RED’ is part of a 60-minute rollercoaster of four 15-minute plays which make up ’JB Shorts’. ’Red’ has already been enjoyed by many FC fans. Here’s what just a few of them said . . .

“’Red’ captured the night and its many emotions in a funny and direct way that any FC fan could relate to. Treat yourself to the best theatre experience you’re likely to have this year??? - Vinny Thompson, FC United Co-Founder

“Went to see JB Shorts with my wife and we both thoroughly enjoyed all the plays. They were well-acted, thought-provoking and there was no shortage of excellent humour. A great night out??? - Karl Marginnson, FC United Team Manager

“JB Shorts is an unmissable event that never fails to entertain. This time, ’Red’ brings the angst and exhilaration of the FA Cup laced with the tension of a family feud??? - Andy Walsh, FC United General Manager

“Seven years of Red heartache, argument and delirious joy bundled into 15 minutes - what more could you ask for???? - Lynette Cawthra, FC Co-Founder & Volunteer

“A smorgasbord of incisive and entertaining mini-dramas that are also pleasingly recession-proof??? - Paul Hinson, Club Statistician

“The best in theatre. Four quality plays including the wonderful ’Red’... A must see for all genuine football fans??? - Swampy, FCUM Radio Commentator & Presenter
