Andy Walsh to debate football ownership at Town Hall this week

This Friday evening at Manchester Town Hall, FC United general manager Andy Walsh will be debating whether foreign ownership of Manchester’s football teams has moved the clubs too far away from their historical community roots and aims.

The event, Foreign Ownership: A Historical Perspective, has been organised as part of the Manchester Histories Festival. Joining Andy on the panel are Gary James (author of Manchester: A Football History), Dr. Annabel Kiernan (Manchester Metropolitan University lecturer), Colin Savage (Manchester City Football Club financial expert) and Dave Wallace (former Manchester City Football Club ’fan on the board’).

The issue up for debate is one that is close to the heart of FC fans and in the current climate, with football ownership rarely out of the headlines, the event should be well worth attending. Full details are listed below, together with a web link to reserve a free place at the debate.

Venue: Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square, Manchester, M2 5DB
Date: Friday 2 March 2012
Time: 6.30pm - 7.30pm
Price: Free, however booking is highly recommended
