Margy will be missing

Karl Marginson was taken ill over the weekend and will be missing from the sidelines against Burscough. Following a couple of days rest and a thorough checking over Karl reported that he is now feeling much better but will not be well enough to make the match.

‘I began to feel unwell on Sunday night and it has taken me a couple of days to get back on my feet and though I am feeling much better I won’t be fit to travel to Burscough. I have spoken with Souley and Chuks this week. Chuks and Darren took training on Tuesday night and prepared the lads for the game. I am comfortable that the team is in capable hands.’

The FC United players will be looking to get back to winning ways against a Burscough team that has struggled for form in the league. Despite their league position Burscough have shown already this season that they can be tricky opponents.

Karl believes that the players are capable of progressing to the next round of the Doodson Sports Cup and are ready to put the disappointment of the FA Trophy exit behind them. ‘I was really pleased with the way we played on Saturday. Guiseley are a tough outfit, they are near the top of a very strong Conference North division and we were good enough to control large parts of the game but they scored and we didn’t so we are out of the Trophy. We are one of the highest scoring teams in the league so there is no doubt that we have players who can score goals. The way we are playing at the moment has seen us creating bags of chances and opportunities to score but we need to get more efforts on target if we are to turn that creativity and advantage into winning games.’
