Salary: Up to £20,000

Job Description

Supporter-owned football club FC United of Manchester are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic self-starter to coordinate and develop our award winning community outreach programme.

The successful applicant will work with the Community and Education Manager to ensure that the club’s reputation for delivering excellent community work is maintained. The role requires the managing and coordination of our community coaching team; the development and management of the club’s community education and outreach projects and managing relationships with key partners.

Applicants should note that this role is not a football specific post. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about the role that sport and football can play in inspiring individuals as well as creating opportunities for personal development as much as physical activity. We are particularly interested in candidates who have had previous experience of managing and developing youth, community and/or sport development programmes and delivering personal and community development outcomes. Candidates must have a track record of managing staff or volunteers and be prepared to evidence key successes.

We are also looking for candidates who have new approaches and innovative ideas about improving the delivery of community sports programmes targeting some of the most deprived areas of Manchester.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide office management and administrative support to our community and education programme
  • To act as the first point of contact for our community partners
  • To provide support to our coaching and outreach staff and volunteers
  • To maintain the quality of our community work
  • To ensure the proper monitoring and evaluation of projects
  • To provide information on the community work to the club board and members

Essential Skills:

  • Proven track record of managing staff or volunteers
  • Articulate and able to communicate confidently and persuasively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong organisational skills, able to operate effectively in meetings and an office environment
  • Experience of successfully working with young people, delivering positive outcomes
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively plan and prioritise workload
  • Evidence of successfully developing professional client partnerships
  • IT Literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word software
  • Current driving licence
