A message from Richard Battersby

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sponsored me for the Shine Manchester 26 mile charity walk in aid of cancer research. I was amazed by the generosity and kindness of people giving their hard earned money at a time when we all have to watch the pennies!

As you may or may not know, the past 16 months have been very difficult for me personally with my fiancee Jenna being diagnosed with cervical cancer in December 2009 and sadly passing away in January 2011.

Not only would I like to thank everyone who sponsored me but would also like to thank everyone at the club for the personal support I have been lucky to receive from the likes of Walshy, John, Lindsey, everyone behind the scenes, Margy, Roy, Daz, the backroom staff and all the players, also to the fans, the foundation upon which the club is built. I believe the club really is in great hands and long may that continue.

So thanks again, there will always be a special place in my heart for FC United of Manchester.
