Play-offs

Should we successfully get the one further point we require to guarantee reaching the play offs, the position we finish in will determine whether we are at home for the play off semi-final on Thursday 28th April. If we finish second or third we would be awarded a home tie and Bury FC have confirmed that subject to all normal playing conditions, this game can go ahead on this date.

If we successfully reached the play-off final then the highest placed team amongst the two finalists are usually awarded home advantage.

However on Monday 2nd May, the date of the play-off final, Bury FC have an event at Gigg Lane that has been booked for nearly twelve months, long before the dates for the play offs were scheduled and therefore the game would not be able to take place at Gigg Lane.

We have known about this potential clash for a few weeks, but have been waiting firstly on how the season looked to be developing and secondly on a ruling from the League on whether any potential fixture could be moved to another ‘home’ venue. Unfortunately the League have today confirmed that their rules state that if the home club are unable to host the game at their usual venue, then home advantage passes to the other team.

Therefore if we are successful in reaching the final, we will play the game away from home regardless of the position we finish in.
