DF Barrels to support Cancer Research

As reported via the Club’s website, Richard Battersby’s fiancée Jenna passed away yesterday following a battle against cervical cancer.

Richard had previously appealed for sponsorship on behalf of Cancer Research for a 26 mile walk he’ll be doing on May 1st. You can still sponsor Richard here - click here.

To show our support for Richard at this desperately difficult time, the Club will be donating the proceeds from the Development Fund barrels on Saturday 22nd January against Hucknall Town to Cancer Research via his fundraising web-page. We would like to encourage supporters to donate any spare change by dropping it into the barrels which will be situated around Gigg Lane on Saturday.

I’m sure you’ll join everyone at FC United in offering your sympathy and support to Richard and his and Jenna’s family.

Supporters should also be aware that we received a request from Hucknall Town to hold a bucket collection outside Gigg Lane on Saturday as they’re currently raising money to pay for urgently needed floodlights.

In light of our own fundraising efforts and Richard’s tragic loss, we declined permission for Hucknall to do this. However, in recognition of a fellow club’s needs, we did agree to let FC United supporters know that you can help Hucknall by visiting their website and donating - click here.
