FC United sign former Oldham Athletic forward

FC United is pleased to announce the signing of former Oldham Athletic and Wrexham attacking-midfielder and striker Matthew Wolfenden.

Wolfenden made his debut for the Reds on Saturday in the 2-1 victory over Colwyn Bay after receiving clearance from the Welsh FA.

The 23-year-old spent six years in the senior squad at Boundary Park before playing last season in the Conference with the Red Dragons. After coming through the Latics’ youth ranks, Wolfenden made his first team debut for his home town club aged just 16.

His six years at the League One club were largely limited to substitute appearances but he scored four goals when called upon and he was on target once for Wrexham last season.

Wolfenden is eligible to play in this season’s FA Cup sponsored by E.ON for FC United.
