Wright re-signs and a centre-back joins

FC United have signed 25-year-old centre-back Martin Parker from North West Counties Premier Division side Glossop North End whilst winger Jerome Wright has committed to the club for another season.

Parker has several years experience in non-league football playing at clubs including Great Harwood Town, Padiham and a brief spell at Maine Road. Manager Karl Marginson said: "Martin is commanding, mobile and a good footballer. We saw him a few times towards the end of last season and he looks like could do a job for us."

Wright has been with FC United since January 2007 after joining from Maine Road and has been one of the club’s most consistent performers. The 24-year-old’s impressive displays on the left-wing have seen him score 33 goals in 156 appearances as well as winning supporters’ player of the 2007/08 season.

Understandably, Margy is glad to have him back on board for another campaign. He said: "When you look at the rest of the league, you have to say Jerome is probably the best left-winger around. He was pretty unfortunate with injury last season and I know Jerome is desperate to have a better season this time around."
