TEN ACRES LANE - WE NEED YOUR VOTE for the ASSET LOCK!

This month we will hold possibly the most important vote among our owners since FC United was formed. We have just announced the proposed site of our own ground at Ten Acres Lane in Newton Heath.

WE WANT TO SAFEGUARD THE FUTURE OWNERSHIP OF OUR STADIUM, AND ENABLE US TO DEVELOP FUNDRAISING - BUT TO DO SO WE NEED YOU TO VOTE.

ASSET LOCK

Members should have received the notice of the General Meeting which takes place on April 25th at The Manchester College, Openshaw Campus, Ashton Old Road, Openshaw, Manchester, M11 2WH. In this we have asked you to support two rule changes.

One of these, an ASSET LOCK, will give us protection on the future use of the stadium, protecting it for the benefit of our members and community.

WHAT IS AN ASSET LOCK? Log into the members’ area for the full details (http://fc-utd.co.uk/login.php)

It is VITAL that we have this KEY VOTE at our General Meeting this month and having it in place will assist fund raising.

To make the ASSET LOCK enforceable, we need 50 per cent of our adult membership to vote AND get a 75% MAJORITY.
HOW TO VOTE

If you’re an owner, please vote. Without you, we cannot lock down our ground as an asset. We NEED you to vote - because at previous GMs, some resolutions have gone through on about a quarter of the membership voting. Do NOT assume someone else will vote - please exercise your democratic power.

Members will have received the notice and notes for the meeting. If you have registered an email address with the club your documents can be accessed through the members area of the website. Only members without a registered email address will receive notice through the post.

i) POSTAL VOTE

It’s not necessary to attend the GM to vote, so please post your ballot slip as soon as possible.

ii) AT THE MATCH

Postal votes can be posted at the match and forms and a ballot box will be available at the membership stall at the matches on the 21st and 24th April. Ensure the staff at the stall register your vote against your membership number as well.

iii) PROXY

You can also vote by PROXY - again, it’s not necessary to attend the GM. Proxy instructions are included in the notice you received when they were sent out originally.

For the proposed rule changes you may now pass your vote by proxy to the chair via email.

The subject of your email must contain the following words - "RULE CHANGE PROXY TO CHAIR " and your membership number. The email address you use MUST be the one registered with FC United with your membership otherwise we cannot transfer the proxy.

The email address to use is vote@fc-utd.co.uk

The body of the email must contain :
- Your full name and address
- Your membership number (again - sorry)
- Your voting intention (Yes/No)

You will receive an automated response from the system WHICH YOU MUST REPLY TO. This ensures that the request is validated and can be audited and is in lieu of a signature.

Once you have confirmed you will receive the same autoresponse which you can ignore.

If using this method the deadline is 22/04/2010 - if you are in any doubt about attending the GM then please use this method.

iv) AT THE GENERAL MEETING

You can also attend the General Meeting and vote in person.

Please note a different ballot form will be issued on the day. If you have voted at any of the games or by post you can still attend the GM but you will not be given a new ballot form.

If you have trouble connecting to the members area please contact the office on 0161 273 8950 or email office@fc-utd.uk
