Having spoken to Bury groundstaff this morning we are still hopeful of the game on New Year’s Day going ahead but to give it the best possible chance we need to enlist the help of our own red army.

We are asking supporters to come to Gigg Lane on Wednesday at 10am armed to the hilt with shovels, spades, brushes, and anything else that would help clear the snow and ice at the ground.

The pitch is currently protected by covers but a thick layer of snow lies on top. This snow should be insulating the pitch from frost, but it needs to be
removed. The Gigg Lane forecourt and surrounding area also needs a good deal of attention as it is currently covered in ice.

Players and supporters are dying for a game, everything is in place for a decent Big Coat Day crowd, all we need is for the pitch to be playable and the area around the ground to be safe.

We therefore need as many supporters as we can muster on Wednesday morning to lend a hand and get the pitch and surrounding area cleared.

A handful of us will not be enough, so please text, phone, e-mail as many other people you can to enlist the help of and together we can get the game ON.
