FC United have been offered an amazing opportunity to play a friendly game in Korea Republic (South Korea). Nothing is finalised yet, but if it happens it’s likely to take place during this year’s pre-season.

We know this will be very disappointing to our more adventurous travelling fans who might not have enough time to arrange travel or to save the necessary funds. Our constitution requires that we strive to make football accessible to all, so we always give great consideration to the impact on our loyal match-going fans, but we hope you will agree that our squad deserve the opportunity of a lifetime to represent our club in such an unusual location. We don’t have enough money to pay the wages offered by some of our competitors, so it’s a huge boost for our players to have the chance of a trip like this.

We would like to hold a free draw for a place with the official party travelling to Korea. We hope this will be some compensation for club owners who might be disappointed that our team are playing so far away. The draw will be open to members for the season 2008-09, but unfortunately only those over 18 can apply, because there would be no facility for an under age winner to be accompanied by an adult. The trip is only likely to be about 3-4 days and we anticipate the game will be on Saturday 18th July, but we don’t have exact dates yet, so you must be able to travel between 14th and 21st July 2009.

Please note we don’t yet have a signed contract or flights booked for the team, so any fans choosing to book their own flights before confirmation do so at their own risk.
