Carden and Platt give Margy migraines

Manager Karl Marginson admits that he has a selection headache ahead of Wednesday night’s UniBond Premier Division six-pointer against Ashton United at Gigg Lane but as ever; he’s relishing the problem.

Simon Carden is available for selection after being rested (due to taking a slight knock at North Ferriby) during Saturday’s dramatic two-all draw at Hednesford Town and with Nicky Platt rejoining the Reds, Margy has numerous options in midfield.

Jamie Baguley and Tunji Moses put in solid performances at the weekend in the centre of the park and competition is strong on the wings with Adam Carden, Carlos Roca and Jerome Wright all playing well too.

Margy said: "It’s a real headache but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a great position to be in. All the lads are desperate to be involved and it’s a difficult job telling the ones who don’t make it into the team that they won’t be starting but competition for places and hunger for victory is what every manager wants."??

With club captain David Chadwick now fully recovered from a thigh strain, Margy must decide whether to recall him to the side or stick with Rob Nugent and Adam Tong.

Chaddy was booked at the weekend whilst he was still on the substitutes’ bench for celebrating United’s first goal so wildly he ran onto the pitch and Margy knows that the big centre back’s passion and commitment is an asset to the club. "He’s FC United through and through. Which is not bad for a City fan,"?? said Margy.

And then of course, Margy must decide what forwards to start with. Phil Marsh put in a promising debut and Roca played well dropping off him but Carl Lomax will be keen to get a good run in the team to show what he is capable of.

FC United of Manchester versus Ashton United is Wednesday at Gigg Lane, 7.45pm kick-off and as always it’s pay on the gate - adults £7.50, concessions £5 and under-18s £2. Get yourself to that football ground.
