Cheer on the champions

Saturday was a great day for FC United but it wasn’t just the first team that were celebrating - the reserve team were crowned champions of the Cheshire Football League and they play their final game this weekend.

Loz Greenhalgh’s youngsters were defeated by Broadheath last Saturday leaving the door open for Club AZ to snatch the title from them. However, AZ could only manage a 3-3 draw with Golborne Sports and so they are now seven points behind with two left to play.

The reserves will hope to go out with a big bang in their final match against Tarporley Victoria at the Tattenhall Recreational Club this Saturday (kick off 3pm). This match will surely be the icing on the cake for what has been such phenomenal season for everyone.

Also playing are the under-18s, they take on Leigh RMI at Hilton Park, kick off 10am on Sunday 11th May. They have had a tough season, so far sitting ninth in the table, but there have been plenty of good performances to cheer and the young lads have plenty of years to improve.

So, if you fancy another fix of live, affordable football and you want to watch yet another trophy being lifted by the mighty Reds get yourself down to those football grounds. Go and cheer on the lads - they deserve it!
