Fred Garner Funeral Details

Fred stayed in the North East after Saturday’s game against Newcastle Blue Star and was found injured at the rear of The Rex Hotel in Whitley Bay in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to Newcastle General Hospital and underwent major surgery. The injuries were of such an extent that the surgeon’s efforts were in vain and Fred passed away having failed to regain consciousness.

It is our understanding that the coroner is satisfied that Fred’s death was an accident.

Our thoughts and condolences are with all Fred’s family and friends at this tragic time.

Fred’s funeral service, followed by cremation, will be held at 11:30 on Tuesday 29th April at Altrincham Crematorium, Whitehouse Lane, Dunham Massey, Altrincham, WA14 5RH, and will be followed by a wake at Sale Excelsior Working Mens Club, 2 Symons Road, Sale, M33 7FJ.

Fred’s family would welcome anyone who wishes to pay their respects. The family have also stated that they do not want those attended the service to wear black.

No flowers at the request of Fred’s family.
