Chadwick out but Burns in as Reds chase the pack

Captain David Chadwick will miss Tuesday night’s rearranged game at Clitheroe but striker Aaron Burns will definitely be available to make his debut as FC United look for a win which would take them up to fourth place in the table.

Chaddy limped out of the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Wakefield at Gigg Lane on Saturday in an obvious amount of pain and manager Karl Marginson will have to wait and see how long his skipper will be out for. Margy undoubtedly knows the importance of having someone of a Chaddy’s stature in the side though and has already declared his intentions to go out to get another centre-half to bolster the squad in the absence of the big number five.

Burns had been hoping to make his debut on Saturday, but due to brief spells with Cardiff City and Icelandic outfit, Afurelding, international clearance for the former Manchester United reserve team top scorer took a little bit longer than expected but has now come through and he will be raring to go after twice having to watch his new team mates from the sidelines.

As it turned out in the end it was another former Old Trafford trainee, Chris Baguley who stole the show at the weekend with two stunning free-kicks. Margy was delighted with the result and the youngster’s performance. He said: "It was there for everyone to see. We always knew Chris would do well but I wanted him to have a month or so to look at the standard of football at this level.

"Players like Chris stick out like a sore thumb, he’s great when we’ve got the ball but I just want to make sure that he realises his other responsibilities when we haven’t. We have to make sure now that he keeps putting in good performances and doesn’t become too happy at playing at this level because he’s too good for that."

Margy was also pleased to have Adam Carden back in the team with 90 minutes under his belt describing his performance as ’unspectacular’ but a positive all the same. The manager also singled out Shaun Roscoe and Liam Foster for how they responded to being substituted in Wednesday’s debacle against Bradford Park Avenue.

Margy added: "Liam couldn’t have played much worse than he did on Wednesday to be honest. To be fair to him he came up against a good winger and was left a bit isolated but it wasn’t good enough. It was a harsh lesson for him but he’s a young lad and it’s one he’ll learn from. Shaun did very well at the start of the season and has suffered from a bit of a dip in form recently but hopefully he can kick on now."??

In other injury news, Stuart Rudd is waiting for a scan to determine whether his knee injury is a cartilage and hopefully not a cruciate problem, Dale Whitehead is awaiting an operation on his shoulder and Josh Howard may be back in light training soon but will face a long and arduous recovery programme to get back to full fitness.
