Updated: Special Treat for Saturday

FC United are pleased to announce that this Saturday, at the match against Bridlington Town, there will be, at Starkies Bar in the Manchester Road End, 50 portions of Westwells bakery’s finest potato hash.

A club spokesman could not contain his delight when he said: "It’s £2 a portion and gorgeous, it even comes with a crust. If you’re old enough you can wash it down with a cool, refreshing Manchester IPA, the award winning beer from 3 Rivers Brewery, which is very reasonably priced at £2 for a 440ml bottle. There’s also a vegetarian option because we’re ’down with the kids’.

"So give the chippy miss this Saturday and instead get yourself to that football ground to give your club and your tum-tum a treat because all profits made in Starkies Bar this season are going straight back into your football club. Once it’s gone, it’s gone."

Starkies will be open from 1:30pm and again at half time. Access will be to members only and membership cards must be shown. Members will also be able to sign in 1 friend. Access will be from the Manchester Road End ’as with the curry club in 2005’. Supporters who wish to avail of facilities in the stadium will have to watch from the Manchester Road End. The reason for this is the club would have to employ extra staff to cover both exits and also the movement of fans between stands would be too difficult to manage.

Starkies is run by FC Staff and Volunteers. Please bear this in mind when visiting Starkies. Abusing staff and volunteers is not acceptable especially when they work so hard and are only trying to do their job.

We would like to apologise for any mixed messages that were sent out by the club. In the early stages of this new venture your patience is required.

The club is always looking for suggestions, please contact the office on 0161 236 1070 or email office@fc-utd.co.uk if you have ideas for matchday events.

The Social Club will be open prior to the game where food will also be available. Entrance is £1 per person with the fee going entirely FC United. Under 18s entry will be free when they are accompanied by an adult. Please remember that this is a licensed premises and children must be suppervised at all times.

Rory Patterson, Stuart Rudd and David Chadwick will be making an appearance at the social club from 1pm.
