FC United of Manchester Youth team’s Wednesday afternoon pre-season friendly on the Broadhurst Park 3G against the UFCA Academy went the way of the Leeds-based visitors who returned home with a well deserved 5-2 win.
The home side had actually taken the lead after just five minutes, FENTON SCOTT’s curling low shot from the right spinning through visiting keeper Finn Wilson’s fingers.
That was about as good as good as it got for the Young Reds as the visitors soon drew level on 23 minutes, a long range effort from CHARLIE McGOWAN eluding Drayke Holland in the FC United goal.

On 68 minutes, the visitors added a third, SHABAN MEHMETI scoring for the West Yorkshire based outfit.
SHERIFF KABBA pulled one back for FC United on 70 minutes, before the visitors restored their two goal advantage on 81 minutes through CAMERON RUSHWORTH.
And a MICHAEL WOOD penalty for UFCA, with seven minutes remaining, this after FC United’s James Hickey was adjudged to have handled the ball, completed the afternoon’s scoring.
