MACCLESFIELD FOOTBALL ACADEMY TEAM ONE 3 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY 'A' TEAM 4
FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ kept their AoC Sport North West Regional Invitation League East title hopes alive with this 4-3 away win against Macclesfield Football Academy (Team One) at All Hallows Catholic College, Macclesfield on Wednesday afternoon.

And the Young Reds had to do it the hard way, coming back from three goals down just after the half time interval.

The home side had taken an early lead on 3 minutes before going two goals down on 42 minutes when AMIER MAIMAITIJIANG (O.G.) could do little to avoid deflecting the ball past Lenny Fieldhouse in the FC United goal.

The writing appeared to be on the wall when Macclesfield added their third goal on 53 minutes.

Then came the start of a remarkable comeback.

First, on 59 minutes, JACK WARD got one back for the visitors with a left-footed effort from a corner kick which the home side had a number of attempts to clear and failed to do so.

Then, on 66 minutes, FC United further reduced the arrears when FAVOUR BOLAJI dispossessed a home defender before running through and placing it past the Macclesfield ’keeper. Unfortunately for FC United, the No. 9 sustained a shoulder injury when scoring and was then unable to take any further part in the match.

The equaliser came in bizarre fashion on 70 minutes. A Macclesfield defender attempted to clear the ball but only succeeded in slicing his clearance into the air before the ball then span backwards before bouncing over the home net minder and into the goal to make the score 3-3.

The decisive goal came on 79 minutes. CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI breaking clear of the home defence from the half way line before beating the Macclesfield ’keeper from 15 yards out.

And a last minute fingertip save from FC United goalkeeper Lenny Fieldhouse with help from the post ensured that it would be the visitors returning home with all three points on offer.

FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team are back in action on Wednesday 26th February 2020 when they host Congleton High School - Team One in their next ECFA/AoC league fixture. (Broadhurst Park 3G - KO 1.45 p.m.)
