FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 0 GUISELEY AFC YOUTH 6

FC United of Manchester Youth team’s first pre-season game on Wednesday afternoon saw the Young Reds go down by six goals to nil on the Broadhurst Park 3G against Guiseley AFC Youth, last season’s National League u19 Alliance North East Division league champions.

The main difference between the two sides was arguably the visitors’ more clinical finishing. FC United had a number of good first half chances, but couldn’t find a way past in form Guiseley AFC ’keeper Louis Simpson.

The opening goal for the Yorkshiremen came on 10 minutes, NICK BRAYSHAW looping a curling effort past Mason Walker from the edge of the penalty area.

Just 30 seconds into the second half and Guiseley AFC Youth made it 2-0, with CONNOR IKIN (o.g.) unlucky to divert the ball past his own ’keeper.

On 50 minutes, a close range finish by DANIEL WATSON to a cross from the left made it 3-0 before ADAM HAW added a fourth on 63 minutes when he reacted first to a half-parried shot.

On 66 minutes, Guiseley went 5-0 up when ADAM HAW sent Mason Walker the wrong way from the twelve yard spot after Michael Olayinka was adjudged to have tripped an opponent.

The lively DANIEL WATSON rounded off the scoring with goal number six on 72 minutes when the visitors were again first to a loose ball.

Substitute Kelvin Amado went near for FC United of Manchester in the closing stages but was denied on both occasions by the offside flag.

The Young Reds are back in pre-season action on Friday (9th August 2019) when they host sides from Carlisle United (12 noon + 2.15 p.m.)
