TRANMERE ROVERS YOUTH 1 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 2
A late goal by substitute Kelvin Amado was enough to give FC United of Manchester Youth team all three points following a dramatic 2-1 win against Tranmere Rovers Youth at the Solar Campus in Wallasey in Wednesday afternoon’s opening league fixture in the season 2019-2020 National League u19 Alliance ’H’ Division.

The Young Reds had do things the hard way as a defensive mix-up on 4 minutes led to Tranmere Rovers breaking down the right wing, the ball flighted over for TYREEQ McCALLUM to finish from inside the six yard box.

On 14 minutes, Mason Beard had a gilt-edged opportunity to equalise, but the ball landed at his feet at an awkward height and the chance went begging.

Just as it looked as if FC United would turn around a goal down at half time, the Young Reds grabbed an equaliser on 44 minutes. Michael Olayinka sent over an inch perfect pass from the left, and CALEB ADENUGA applied the finishing touch.

With home ’keeper Charlie Letts in fine form, that looked as if it might be the end of the afternoon’s scoring.

With the referee’s stopwatch ticking down, substitute Kevin Zokou thought otherwise, however, hopefully chasing down a loose ball and then linking up with fellow substitute KELVIN AMADO for a late, late 88th winner.

FC United of Manchester Youth are back in action on Wednesday 18th September 2019 when they travel to Nantwich Town for the First Round Qualifying of the FA Youth Cup. (Weaver Stadium, Nantwich. KO 7.45 p.m.)
