FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’A’ team narrowly went down by two goals to one at Goshen Sports Centre, Bury against The Football College, Bury FC, Men’s 1sts in their latest AoC Sport North West Championship Invitation (East) league fixture on Wednesday afternoon.
After a goal-less first half, the home side took the lead on a quick counter-attack on 52 minutes after an FC move had broken down.
The Young Reds were back on level terms just two minutes later. Leo Pinto Rocha sent in a teasing cross and GEORGE BARBOSA’s header found the back of the net via an upright.
On 71 minutes, the home side were reduced to ten men when one of their players picked up a second yellow card.
But despite the numerical disadvantage, the Bury FC side were still able to snatch the winner from the penalty spot on 78 minutes to record a narrow 2-1 win which keeps them at the top of the AoC Sport North West Championship Invitation (East) league table.
FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team are next in league action on Wednesday 13th March 2019 with a trip to Poolfoot Farm, Fleetwood when they face PDA Lancashire Men’s 1sts (KO 1 pm).
