PRESTON NORTH END FC (MYERSCOUGH) YOUTH 1 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 1
A valiant rearguard action by ten man FC United of Manchester helped earn Jack Doyle’s young charges a share of the points in their National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division clash against high-flying Preston North End FC (Myerscough) Youth at Myerscough College on Wednesday afternoon.

The visitors had taken a deserved lead on just 10 minutes. Sam Iwegbu won the ball in the centre circle before playing it on to KANE STOCKLEY who ran in at goal before coolly steering the ball past home ’keeper Joel Shaw.

On 30 minutes, a mass melee first saw two players yellow carded before - and this after a consultation between all three match officials - FC United’s Olvy Belezika was then shown red.

Into the second half, and Dillon Kirkman went close with a long range effort from the half-way line on 57 minutes as FC United looked to extend their slender 1-0 lead.

Just when it looked as if FC United might take all three points, a long throw from the right in the first minute of time added on was looped home from close range by Preston North End substitute MACKEN SLATER.

However, the Young Reds held firm for the remaining five minutes for a battling 1-1 draw, a result which, together with scores elsewhere, temporarily knocked Preston North End Youth off the top of the table, and keeps FC United in sixth place.

FC United of Manchester Youth are back in action next week with a home league fixture against Rochdale AFC Youth (Broadhurst Park 3G - Wednesday 6th March 2019 - KO 1.30 pm).
