FC HALIFAX TOWN YOUTH 4 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 2
Despite going down to a 2-4 defeat against FC Halifax Town Youth in the National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division on the Calderdale College 3G pitch in Halifax on Wednesday afternoon, the FC United of Manchester Youth team can take comfort from a much improved second half performance against their higher-placed opponents.

The Young Reds had a mountain to climb after the home side had taken a 2-0 lead inside the opening minutes; KELAN SWALES had netted the first after just 75 seconds, before JAMES SUNDERLAND added a second on 6 minutes.

When LIAM HEALEY grabbed a third on 27 minutes, it looked all over for the visitors from Manchester.

Only a fine double save from Sulaiman Sajjad and the goal frame prevented FC Halifax Town from extending their lead early into the second half, but a couple of personnel changes then helped kick start FC United’s recovery.

Substitute Abdul Muktadir set up fellow substitute MAX LEWENS to pull one back on 69 minutes, and although the Yorkshiremen took full advantage of a wayward backpass to score again through ELJEL ANKU on 72 minutes, it was FC United who took the second half honours when ELLIOT JORGE SIMOES INACIO’s low shot found the back of the Halifax net on 78 minutes.

The FC United of Manchester Youth team are back in action next on Wednesday 7th March 2018 when they make the trip to face top-of-the-table South Shields Youth.
