HOPWOOD HALL COLLEGE MEN’s 1sts 4 FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER YOUTH TEAM 1

FC United of Manchester’s two year grip on the Greater Manchester Schools FA Under 18s County Cup competition came to an end as they went down 4-1 against Hopwood Hall College at the semi-final stage of the 2016-2017 competition on Wednesday afternoon.

The home side had taken an early two goal lead with breakaway goals from TOM BEVAN on 4 minutes and the same player on 9 minutes before adding a third on 23 minutes with a JACOB FROST effort that went in off the post.

JACK O’LEARY pulled one back for FC United on 42 minutes with a long range free-kick that crashed in off the crossbar to give the visitors a glimmer of hope at the half-time interval.

However, try as they might, the visitors were unable to claw their way back into the game and on 71 minutes Hopwood Hall made sure of the result when REECE AXON’s low shot was deflected past Sam Callagher in the FC United goal, making the final score 4-1.
