FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 4 ROMULUS YOUTH 2

FC United of Manchester Youth progressed through to the third round (last 16) of the Football Conference Youth Alliance League Cup with this 4-2 second round home win against Romulus Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

FC United opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a well-placed shot from Kamahl Fuller that gave visiting goalkeeper Daniel Griffiths no chance.

On 26 minutes, Ben Welsh equalised for the West Midlands-based visitors when he was first to react to a shot that had been pushed onto the crossbar just moments before by home ’keeper Chandler Rohman.

All square at one goal apiece at half-time, Will Shawcross then made it 2-1 in favour of FC United on 50 minutes when he blasted home a spectacular long-range effort from just outside the area.

On 53 minutes, Jack Tinning made it 3-1 when he netted from close range.

Just two minutes later, however, Romulus Youth reduced the deficit when Jourdain Masidi rifled a low shot past Chandler Rohman.

At this stage of the match, it was anyone’s game, but with just four minutes remaining, FC United team captain Jack Tinning made sure that the home side would progress to the next round of the league cup when he clipped the ball over the Romulus Youth goalkeeper to make the final score 4-2 in favour of FC United Youth.
