Gateshead Youth regained their place at the top of the Football Conference Youth Alliance Division I league table following this narrow 1-0 home win against FC United Youth on the Gateshead 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

After a goalless first half in which both sides had gone close, Gateshead Youth snatched a deserved winner on 78 minutes when Scott McArdle headed home from a corner from two yards out past Jacob Holt in the FC United Youth goal.

The visitors tried their utmost to pull a goal back in the closing minutes, but Gateshead Youth held fast take all three points and go top of the table.

FC United Youth’s next FCYA game is an away league fixture against Manchester Metropolitan University at the Cumberland Sports Arena in Crewe. (Friday 19th February 2016 - K.O. 1.00 p.m.)
