On Saturday 19th August ko 3pm, FC United travel to Bradford Park Avenue in the National League North.

FC United go into Saturday’s match with Bradford PA looking to build on Tuesday night’s performance away at Southport. The Reds were 2-0 up at half-time following quality strikes from James Hooper and Nathan Lowe. Craig Lindfield made it 3-1 for FC on 72 minutes but two goals in the last 3 minutes for Southport denied us our first victory of the season.

Saturday’s opponents Bradford PA have also struggled so far this season with just one win and three defeats from their opening 4 games. On the opening match of the season they beat Tamworth away 1-0 with a late winner 7 minutes into added time. They have since lost 2-1 at home to Southport, 5-0 at home to York City and 3-0 away to Spennymoor.

The FC faithful was in fine voice at Southport on Tuesday and we’ll be hoping for more of the same on Saturday at a ground that we’re very familiar with, having played their 10 times before. We have had mixed fortunes at the Horsfall Stadium winning twice, drawing 3 times and losing on 5 occasions.

On Tuesday night new player Michael Connor (aged 27) made his debut for the Reds. The Manchester born attacking midfielder who began his career at Manchester City, and a after a brief spell at Mossley he joined Conference North side Northwich Victoria in 2009/10. That season he played against FC United in the FA Cup 4QR round tie with the Vics winning 3-0 and subsequently featured in Northwich’s giant killing 1st Round FA Cup match against Charlton Athletic.

In December 2010, with Northwich having been demoted to the Northern Premier League, he joined Droylsden who were then a Conference North side. At the time of his departure from Northwich, FC United Manager Karl Marginson was keen to sign the talented player.

Prior to the season starting Bradford PA had announced they would introduce a two-tiered pricing structure. However, after receiving feedback both from home and away fans, the Bradford PA board took the decision to revert to a standard admission price across every league match for this season. The adult price of £10 is the joint cheapest price in the division.
