Match Report
Youth team football finally kicked off at St Bride’s and NWYA newcomers Chester FC were the visitors. They were given short shrift as FC completed a 3-0 victory with second half goals from Theo Kidd and substitutes Matthew Hassall and Luke Walker.

The first half was closely fought with few chances as each team looked to gain an upper hand in midfield. What chances there were fell by and large to the home side as Chester were unable to win a header against James Brooks and Kyle Cunningham. The central defenders were ably supported by Connor Naughton and Joe Powers in midfield. Sam Howell, Theo Kidd and Jermaine Dre Metz came closest without success. Chester in truth only had two chances as Connor Kendrick fired wide after half an hour in their first attempt to pass on the floor. Jack Roberts found himself free at the far post just before half time but his shot was straight into the ground and reared up for Andrew Farrimond to turn over the cross bar.

The second half was, from an attacking point of view, was virtually all FC United, the visitors struggled to break from midfield and anything that got further was cleared without a clear threat on the home goal. Theo Kidd was perhaps rueing his missed chances, being unable to test Mike Dixon in the visitors goal. That was, until the57th minute when Jermaine Dre Metz crossed the pitch to launch a long throw from the right. James Brooks got the first header and Theo fired home.

The lead was doubled fifteen minutes later with another throw from Jermaine, this time Luke Walker was the only player to react and shot home. The third goal was scored by Matthew Hassall after being put clear by Theo.

FC United of Manchester: Andrew Farrimond, Obrian Richards, Jermaine Dre Metz, Kyle Cunningham, James Brooks, Connor Naughton, Joseph Powers, Maximilian Thomas Matthew Hassall 79 mins), Theo Kidd, Ryan Westwood (Luke Walker65 mins), Sam Howell (Jonathan Poizer 87 mins).
