Match Report
The FC Utd youth team brought their fixtures for 2007 to an end with a fantastic performance in the league cup against Woodley Sports.

Technically a home game but played on the all weather surface at Woodley, the FC lads were up for it from the first whistle putting pressure on woodley all over the pitch.

The first chance fell to Vidal Mike as a poor clearnace dropped at his feet and he found himself one on one with the keeper, Rick Holt who pulled off a terrific save to deny him the opening goal.

Eventually the deadlock was broken with some good work down the right by Calum Rothwell and a long cross found captain Liam James unmarked to strike the ball home from 20 yards.

Woodley’s best effort came shortly after when a great cross from Jason James found Jay Bebbington unmarked in the six yard box. His powerful header was goal bound, but FC keeper Jake Edwards made a terrific diving save to turn the ball round the post.

In the second half the FC lads took complete control of the game dominating possession and creating several chances. The second goal was one for the FC scrap book, a good series of one touch passing eventually found Sean Mills who saw the keeper off his line and curled a peach of a shot that just dipped under the cross bar.

The final killer goal came just three miutes later when some more good one touch passing found Rob Trainor in the box, he beat his marker and fired home from close range.

The youth team will now enjoy a well deserved Christmas break with the next schedule fixture on Sunday 6th January.
