FC United start season with defeat at Brackley Town
FC United fell yet again to bogey team, Brackley Town, opening the season with a 2-1 defeat at St James Park.

In the opening exchanges it was the home side that had the upper hand seeing much of the ball round the FC box, Andy Brown lobbed the ball just over and James Armson seeing a shot beaten away by Lloyd Allinson.

The only sight of goal for FC was a scuffed shot by Nathan Lowe easily saved by the home keeper.

The chances kept on coming for Brackley, thankfully they seemed to lack confidence in front of goal, Alex Gudger blasting over from six yards out and Shane Byrne scuffing a shot wide when well placed in the box.

Halftime seemed to come at a good time for FC United but the old failing of conceding shortly after the break reared its ugly head as just six minutes into the half. Brackley took the lead when a slip from Danny Wisdom let in Armson who finished well past Allinson.

Shortly after the hour, the Reds made changes with Jason St Juste and Mike Jones being replaced by Joel Logan and Richie Baker and this provoked the best spell from the visitors.

On 73 minutes, FC United drew level when a cross from Connor McCarthy was finished well at the far post by Jason Gilchrist who headed the ball into the net.

The Reds were level for just four minutes when the home side scored a winner that was almost a copy of the FC equaliser as a cross from the right was headed in at the far post by Brown.

It was a disappointing start to the season from FC but it will be more the manner of the defeat that would worry as only poor finishing from Brackley prevented the score line from being worse.

Website man of the match: Jordan Fagbola. A difficult day in defence for FC and both centre halves stuck to their task well. Fagbola edges out Zac Corbett as he played for 90 minutes despite picking up an injury in the first half.
