FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY TEAM 4 v.v. (VOETBALVERENIGING) PEIZE under 19s 3
FC United of Manchester’s academy team came out narrowly on top by four goals to three in Friday afternoon’s international youth friendly match against Voetbalvereniging Peize under 19s from the Groningen area of The Netherlands on the Broadhurst Park 3G.
In an entertaining game, the Young Reds opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Steve Affleck set up new boy KAINE MARTIN to steer the ball home from ten yards out.
The Dutch visitors were back on level terms less than a minute later when SVEN LUBBEN netted from close range.
On 17 minutes, the FC United of Manchester Academy team regained the lead from the penalty spot after Steve Affleck had been tripped when entering the box.
AFFLECK dusted himself down to send the ’keeper the wrong way from the 12 yard mark.
Once again, v.v. Peize equalised within 60 seconds, this time it was YORAN CATS who was the scorer for the visitors, with a lofted shot that gave Sulaiman Sajjad little chance.
On 31 minutes, the home side were back in front, when a Nelson Onwusiri cross was unluckily headed past his own ’keeper by EWOUT VAN DER VEEN, to make the half-time score 3-2.
On 77 minutes, STEVE AFFLECK latched on to a long through ball to power the ball into the corner of the net to make it 4-2, before SELWYN SLOTEGRAAF smashed home a late consolation goal for the visitors on 85 minutes.
Final score: FC United of Manchester Academy team 4 v.v. Peize under 19s 3.
