Match Report
STOCKPORT COUNTY YOUTH 2 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 3

FC United of Manchester Youth registered their first league win of the New Year (after four consecutive defeats) with this 3-2 win against Stockport County Youth in a National League u19 Youth Alliance Division ’J’ league fixture switched to the Broadhurst Park 3G at short notice following a waterlogged pitch at Cheadle Sports Club.

The Young Reds had to come back from behind after Stockport had initially taken an early lead through ZAC ROBINSON.

WILL SHAWCROSS was the player on target on 29 minutes for FC United, with a curling shot from ten yards out, to level the score at 1-1.

Six minutes later, County restored their lead on 35 minutes when ZAC ROBINSON latched onto a long ball before rounding Thomas Bamber and knocking the ball home.

An injury to Stockport ’keeper Alex Gorst five minutes into the second half was perhaps the turning point of the game, and the FC United team took full advantage on 54 minutes as his stand-in replacement fumbled a Robson Brown cross and CAMERON HORNER was left free to bundle the ball home.

And on 71 minutes, MASON DAVIES was perfectly positioned to head home a Michael Jones free-kick, the assistant referee confirming the ball had indeed crossed the line.

The result leaves the FC United of Manchester Youth team in 2nd place in the National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division with seven games remaining.
