FC United of Manchester crashed to a disappointing 4-2 away defeat on Wednesday afternoon against Gateshead Youth on the International Stadium 3G in their latest National League u19 Alliance Division ’J’ League fixture.

WILL SHAWCROSS had opened the scoring for the Young Reds after only 5 minutes before CAMERON FENTON equalised with a low shot for the home side on 28 minutes.

A goal apiece at half-time, MICHAEL JONES restored FC United’s slender lead on 48 minutes with a long range solo effort that just crept into the corner, before Gateshead levelled once again when substitute LIAM BUTLER prodded the ball home from close range on 67 minutes.

Hesitancy in the FC United defence allowed CAMERON FENTON to put Gateshead in front for the first time before the visitors’ Cameron Horner was sent off on 79 minutes for protesting over volubly that a foul hadn’t been given his way.

LIAM BUTLER made sure of the result for the home side when he netted from a corner on 85 minutes.

FC United of Manchester’s have a chance to bounce back when they travel to Hyde United Youth on Wednesday 11th January 2017, kick-off: 1.30 p.m.
