Match Report
FC United moved to three points off the top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division after coming from behind to beat Belper 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The relegation threatened hosts took an unexpected lead in the first five minutes with a superb strike. However, goal machine Tom Greaves bagged a brace moments before and after half-time. A Shelton Payne volley confirmed victory midway through the second half.

The first chance on goal came from FC when a Luke Ashworth header was easily saved by Danny Haystead. From his clearance Belper went on the attack down the right. The ball found Jon Froggatt on the edge of the box and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner to put The Nailers a goal up.

Haystead was in action again a few minutes later when he sliced a clearance. The ball fell to Greaves but Haystead recovered to push the shot wide.

As halftime approached both sets of players were involved in a coming together after a late tackle on Greg Daniels. Deep into injury time, the score was levelled when a cross from the right was headed in by Greaves via the keeper’s hands. There was still time for a good chance for FC to take the lead when Daniels saw his chance tipped wide.

The second half was only a minute old when Payne crossed in for Greaves to shoot into the corner of the net with help from a defender.

On 66 minutes the lead was extended when good work from Greaves in the box saw a defender rush his clearance. The ball dropped to Payne who without taking a touch volleyed the ball into the net. The rest of the game petered out with FC United seeing most of the ball, giving Margy the chance to bring on fresh legs.

Website man of the match - Jerome Wright. Was busy at both ends of the pitch and is really settling in his left back role.
